Feb 18th 2009 - Pali Look, Kailua Beach... and AlOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhaa!!!

Aloha! (say: AlOOOOOOOhaaa)
Today was a really cool day. Although the snorkeling bay has been attact by jelly fishes and nobody was allowed in the water at this bay! Instead we went kayaking at the beautiful beach of Kailua. Also with the weather we had good luck. After a cloudy morning the sky became clear as soon as we arrived at the breathtaking viewpoint over the Pali Look to check the East side of the island. Pictures were taken and we rode the bus down to the beautiful beach.

After a short instruction about kayaking we put our double kayaks in the water and started paddeling. In the amazing blue water while we were heading towards the island close to the shore we almost ran into seaturtles! We explored the vulcanic island and even had a chance to jump into a natural pool. On our way back we raced! Unfortunately neither the Swiss-Denmark team nor the Brasilian super duo son. Well... Matt, our Rotary Chaperon, crossed the finish line first.

After this hard work we definitely earned a nice cold shower and a delicious meal at the local Buzz Burger restaurant. But some of us have not had enough sport so we played football at the Kailua beach as well as back in Waikiki beach.

Although concentration was hard for some of the boys. Maybe it was because there was a local girls volley ball team practicing right next to the improvised football field... Anyway, we had a fun time.

At night everybody came together for dinner. Right after the outstanding dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen all the exchange students wandered and shopped on the streets of Honolulu.

A worthy ending of an awsome day!

Mahalo and good night, boa noite, buenas noches and guet nacht
